Close to Belo Horizonte, some of the neighbourhoods of the Nova Lima and Brumadinho municipalities house diverse cultural spaces. These places are surrounded by mountains and have stood out on the mineiro artistic scene inthe last few years. This in turn has seen the region acquire the status of cultural destination.
In addition to being further away from the intensity of urbanlife, these centres also share anaffinity with contemporary art and the experimentation of newlanguages. They also both carry out important social responsibility work, organizing activities for the local communities, thus contributing to the education of children, teenagers and adults.
The engagement of these groups is evidenced by the way in which some of them organize themselves. Some of the region’s cultural spaces constitute the Arts Trail, a network created to encourage the collaboration and formation of partnerships between local institutions.
